Train design & animation
The year is 2146 and the world as we know it has ended. Most of the cities have been destroyed from the rise of the sea levels and new communities have been formed. The region where California used to be is now the underwater community of “Los Ahogados”. The design of the C-MIST train that accommodates the area is a tribute to the city of “ Los Angeles”. The main concept is “city of angels” and to represent Los Angeles through the different elements and cultural facts that characterize it.
The main idea is to use clean cut materials and white color in the main body to create the illusion of a heavenly atmosphere as well as a reference to the Hollywood sign. The windows are shaped as a minimalistic illustration of angel wings. The added light blue neon lights are placed to create the effect of a halo. Throughout the whole body run four metal pipes that help to lead the steam to the back of the train. The area between the pipes is decorated with metal stars that resemble the stars on the Hollywood walk of fame. The maglev mechanism is located in the lower part of the train.
As far as the interior is concerned, the main idea is that an imaginary section of the train resembles an angel. In the two first cars the seats are located in two rows and are shaped like angel wings, while the lights in the middle are shaped like halos and illuminating, creating a full angel figure. The interior is also made out of clean cut white glossy and reflective material. In the middle of the train there is an aisle running throughout the whole length of the train, highlighted by two metal beams and in between them, metal Hollywood stars. The aisle continues also to the connection parts but it is added as a separate piece that is flexible to movement so it doesn’t cause inflexibility to the other parts of the connection.
