Two family house in Megara

In a rural area near «Megara» in Attiki, we were called to design a house and the agricultural activities around it for two young couples that decided to leave the city life and build a new one in the countryside. The one couple does not have any children while the other couple has a baby. The area is quite isolated and rough with big altitude differences. The young couples will be involved with wineyards , that flourish in the area. Taking this into consideration, there will be a cultivation area around the house, a storage house along with some facilities for wine tasting and events. The location of the house in the lot was chosen so there is a smooth integration in the landscape and also so the is the ultimate usage of views and orientation.  One of the chalenges of this project was the roughness of the landscape. The intention was to turn this situation into our benefit and design the building as a -proektasi- of the cliff so that we alternate the nature the least possible. The construction material is armed concrete. There is a roof garden with local plants so the building blends in with the vegetation and colours of the area. The house is divided in three zones. The common spaces are located in the central zone and include the kitchen and the living room. The other two zones are each family`s private rooms and bathrooms. A very important issue while designing the house was the need for natural light. This was accomplished with big windows in the south orientation along with skylights that allows the sunlight in the darker and more northern spaces.
